It seems like yesterday that Alex and I, (my amazing summer intern) first met with Myk & Mel Guanci. I remember the meeting well, it’s always fun to work with really excited clients who completely trust me with their home and vision. We learned that they bought the home ten years ago and had been waiting for just the right time to remodel.
They also mentioned that they would have never predicted a pandemic year to be the year they finally decided to remodel, but here they are “going for it” and it’s working out perfectly. Plus, they were super excited about interest rates right now, which are making home renovations extremely affordable saving homeowners who decide to renovate thousands of dollars.
Their project is going to involve a full exterior, main floor and partial second floor renovation. Their house will go from a three-bedroom, one-bathroom home to a three-bedroom, three-bathroom home with one of those bathrooms transitioning into a nice master bath with a soak tub.
With this big project in mind, the big question in the beginning was whether they should occupy the home during the remodel or find temporary housing. In the end, temporary housing turned out to be the best option. It’s a big consideration every homeowner makes before a remodel of this magnitude. Remodeling is not for the faint of heart as you can see from their demo-day pictures.
How did we get here? Over the last six months, we have created their mood boards, design renderings, construction plans, lighting plans, selected fixtures, lighting, finishings and lastly paint colors.
Over the next three months we’ll be sharing the progress made on their project. It is a great example of what a project may look like from start to finish.
