How to Source the Right Art for Your Walls

Finding the perfect art for your walls involves careful consideration of size and color. By understanding the importance of size and color in relation to the overall aesthetic of a room, we help our clients make informed decisions that enhance the visual impact of their wall art.

When it comes to sourcing the right art for your walls, there are a few key factors to consider in order to ensure that the pieces you choose complement your home's aesthetic. A few of these important considerations are the size of the art piece and the color. The size of the artwork should be proportionate to the wall space it will occupy. A large piece of art on a small wall can overwhelm the space, while a small piece on a large wall can look lost and insignificant. When you have a larger wall, it is good to think through ahead of time if you want one large art piece or a gallery wall of multiple pieces, sizes, and different types of art. Think about the busyness of your space? Is the furniture and decor more minimal that it would be good to add a contrast of a slightly busier wall to add more character? Or would it be good to add just one large sleek piece of art.

Art on a wall speaks just as loud as the rest of the room, so you have to decide if you want it to stand out or flow with and through the space. Considering color is so important. Will you choose colors that compliment the space? Or match perfectly? It can be good to use artwork as a pop of color. But, it’s always important to have colors included that are throughout that specific space. Maybe your space is mainly green and cream, so your artwork has hints of green, white, but also includes a little bit of terracotta. A color that looks beautiful with those and adds character and touch to your room. Or you can choose a blue that maybe is a different shade of blue than the one in your room. For example, you have a navy blue credenza, light gray couch, with white and blue pillows. So you add artwork that includes lighter blues, black, and cream. A way to compliment and choose a pop, but something that still blends well into the space.

When picking art, we encourage you to think outside the box, get creative and go out of your comfort zone. Yet, think thoroughly through questions about how you want the space to feel, and the aesthetic you want everything to give off. Sourcing the right art for your walls involves careful consideration of both size and color scheme. By taking these factors into account, you can ensure that the art you choose enhances and complements your home's overall aesthetic.
