Pet Washing Stations for Your Home

Andy and Jeremy came to us to update and modernize the main floor of their home. The spaces they wanted to remodel included their kitchen, mudroom, laundry, living room, dry bar, half bath, master bedroom, and bathroom. 

As we learned more and more about our clients through the space planning and design phases, we learned that our main objective was to rid the home of unusable space.

First, we enlarged their usable kitchen space by adding a second island for more than 20 square feet of extra countertop surface to work on. Then we opened up the space between the kitchen and informal living space by removing a wall.

Second, we expanded their mudroom to accommodate their storage needs for supplies and cleaning materials. This change created access to the home through the garage via the mudroom which doubles as a laundry room - where before their garage door opened into a hallway just off their living room.

Selections included: Engineered hardwood and tile floors, respectively. We replaced cabinetry doors with maple shaker-style doors, painted black and white. We selected two different Quartz countertop finishes to keep the space balanced. Last but not least, the appliances are Cafe with brushed stainless and copper accents.

Given that our clients love to cook and entertain, they wanted a gas range. The perfect hood and venting system isn’t always possible in older homes, so the builder customized these pieces to ensure our clients could upgrade to a gas range with a custom job-built hood that matched the surrounding cabinetry.

Our clients have the cutest cats, Winston and Link, so we wanted to create a separate space that could accommodate pet ownership needs. We determined that the new laundry room (originally a flex/office space) would be the space that made the most sense during the design phase. We created a pet washing station and a pass-through door from the laundry room into the living spaces of the home. This cute pass-through door adds a little something special to the whole experience for Winston and Link.

Although our clients don’t have a dog, the pet washing station will add value if and when they sell their home. In the meantime, it can act as a place to clean litter boxes, water plants, wash off muddy shoes, and do any other heavy lifting you may need in a mini-shower station.

Now, Andy and Jeremy have the main floor they have always wanted. Their entire main floor is functional and reflects their style, improving how they feel in their home!
