4 Remodeling Project ideas to do this Winter

Remodeling and winter may not sound like they go together, but the winter months are actually the perfect time to tackle those interior upgrades you’ve been dreaming about. We’ve got 4 project ideas for you to consider this winter.

Why should I consider remodeling this winter?

Contractor Availability
:

While the spring and summer months are busy for contractors, the winter months are typically their slow season. This means that they’ll have lots of availability for whatever projects you may have for them. Increased availability also can lead to a faster timeline and easier scheduling.

Pre-Planned Vacations:

One of the main reasons people put off interior remodels is because they impact daily life. With kids being out of school for the holidays, it’s the perfect time to take a vacation. Who wouldn’t love an excuse to escape to somewhere warm and sunny in the dead of winter? Getting away can make interior remodeling projects a lot easier to handle and less stressful.

Lower Costs:

Most companies take advantage of the fact that people tend to remodel in the spring by increasing the cost of materials during those months. By remodeling during what’s considered the off-season, you could save big on materials. Additionally, appliances tend to go on sale in the winter. So, remodeling in the winter can not only transform your spaces, but you can do it for a cheaper price than if you waited!

Here are 4 of the most popular remodeling projects during winter months:

The Basement:

If you’ve wanted to finish your basement for the longest time, this is a great time to do it! Not only does this increase your home value, but it can help create another functional space for you and your family to enjoy. If it’s already finished, maybe it could use some finishing touches or a few improvements to make it even better.

The Laundry Room:

Although it’s a constantly used room in the house, laundry rooms tend to be due for an upgrade and are a popular choice for remodeling. Adding a new coat of paint can breathe some new life into the space. Adding some additional storage solutions with shelves and baskets doesn’t hurt either. If you’re in need of a new washer and dryer to go with your remodel, winter is the perfect time as appliances typically on sale.

The Kitchen:

Kitchens can quickly become outdated with the trends changing constantly. Give your kitchen a little refresh with some new cabinets and countertops. Maybe you even want to remove a wall to make room for the kitchen island you have always dreamed of having. Or, another popular remodeling project is adding in more kitchen storage. Don’t we all need more storage in this area? These are all changes that can work wonders!

The Bathroom:

Finally, we have the bathrooms! The remodel everyone has on their mind, but is constantly delaying. Have your eye on that new soaker tub? Need new light fixtures? Now’s the time to make those enhancements!

Now the big question. Where do you start? The first step in all of this is the design process. We start by doing a home consultation (hyperlink to website) either in-person or virtually. Then we go through the design process which gives you the road map to creating your dream spaces. This can include renderings, space planning and making the selections. We also know a few good contractors and builders in town that we can recommend.

The best time to start the design process for these projects is now. That way you can schedule the project to kick off during the upcoming winter months.
